Nymex natural gas closed up on Monday, reaching a nearly 3-year high due to expectations of colder US temperatures. However, higher US nat-gas production remains a bearish factor for prices. US dry gas production and state gas demand are up, while LNG net flows to US terminals decrease slightly.

Electricity output in the US is rising, supporting gas prices. Nat-gas inventories fell more than expected last week, but supplies remain adequate. European gas storage is slightly below the seasonal average. The number of active US nat-gas drilling rigs also continues to rise.
