Cotton futures closed 2025 with losses of 2 to 5 points. Crude oil futures were down 54 cents at $57.41, while the US dollar index was up $0.040 at $97.995. Futures closed on Thursday for New Years Day. CFTC’s updated report showed managed money trimming 4,387 contracts from their net short as of 12/23 to 50,446 contracts. Export Sales data from December 18 showed 182,680 RB of cotton sold, with shipments at 146,915 RB, an 8-week high. The Seam’s auction on December 30 saw sales of 14,459 bales at an average price of 60.13 cents/lb. Cotlook A Index was down 20 points to 74.30 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 90 bales on 12/30, with the certified stocks level at 11,510 bales. Adjusted World Price was updated to 50.02 cents/lb, up 3 points from the previous week. Mar 26 Cotton closed at 64.27, down 5 points. May 26 Cotton closed at 65.6, down 4 points. Jul 26 Cotton closed at 66.83, down 2 points.
