Cotton futures closed lower on Friday, with March contracts down 78 points for the week. Crude oil futures rose by 47 cents to $60.14 per barrel, while the US dollar index increased by $0.042 to $98.995. Managed money was net short 74,093 contracts of cotton futures and options on 10/28, a decrease from the previous week.
The 12/4 online auction from The Seam saw 5,171 bales sold at an average price of 58.37 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index dropped 10 points to 74.70 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 4,309 bales on December 4, with certified stocks at 15,585 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated to 51.28 cents/lb last week, up 51 points from the previous week.
