Australia-based charcoal chicken chain El Jannah plans to expand its network from 50 to 200 outlets by 2026, with 25 new restaurants set to open in New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory. Specific locations include Cranebrook, Cronulla, Ashburton, South Yarra, and Woden.
The expansion is supported by a significant capital injection from General Atlantic, a private equity company that has previously invested in Danish chain Joe & The Juice. El Jannah, known for its charcoal-grilled chicken platters, has seen rapid growth from five to 50 locations and handles 160,000 transactions weekly.
CEO Brett Houldin, along with the Estephan family and General Atlantic, will lead the expansion, allowing for potential international growth. This growth strategy aims to export El Jannah’s Australian-Middle Eastern flavor profile to new markets, including the Middle East. The brand’s success lies in its authentic food and strong community following.
Founded in 1998 by Lebanese migrants in Western Sydney, El Jannah has garnered a loyal customer base for its charcoal chicken offerings. With the backing of General Atlantic, the chain seeks to bring its unique flavors to a wider audience, showcasing its distinctive and exciting restaurant concept.
