The Federal Trade Commission announced that Boeing must divest assets of Spirit AeroSystems to address antitrust concerns related to Boeing’s acquisition of Spirit. The merger aims to combine Boeing with Spirit’s production of fuselages and wings for aircraft. Boeing will divest key Spirit businesses supplying aerostructures to Airbus and Spirit’s Malaysia aerostructures business to ensure competition in the aircraft market. The FTC order requires Boeing and Spirit to continue supplying aerostructures to competing contractors for military aircraft programs and safeguard competitors’ confidential information. Public feedback on the proposed package is welcome for 30 days.
