HII hosted an Australian delegation at its Newport News Shipbuilding division in support of the AUKUS partnership. The delegation, led by Richard Marles MP, saw facilities supporting submarine construction, attended the keel laying ceremony for Virginia-class submarine Barb (SSN 804), and met with company leadership. HII continues to work with Australia through programs like AUSSQ to qualify Australian businesses into the U.S. supply chain. The company’s Mission Technologies Global Security team is also collaborating with the Australian Government to bring expertise in nuclear-powered submarine sustainment to Australia. HII is a founding member of the AUKUS Workforce Alliance, focusing on preparing a skilled workforce for Australia’s sovereign nuclear-powered submarines.
