The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) approved amendments to the code of ethics, allowing Indian CA firms to connect internationally. The guidelines include forming associations with international entities, promoting cross-border collaborations, and expanding services like sustainability assurance and AI-related consulting. ICAI also aligned its ethics standards with the 2024 IESBA Code.

The updated 13th Edition of the Code of Ethics, effective April 2026, introduces changes in advertising and website guidelines for chartered accountants. They now have more flexibility in advertising content and can use push technology for wider promotion of services. Network firms registered with ICAI can create their websites under these rules.

ICAI’s new ethical standards for sustainability assurance, based on IESBA guidance, cover independence requirements related to sustainability. The list of Management Consultancy and Other Services (MCS) CAs can provide has expanded to include areas like social impact assessment, AI-related consulting, and forensic accounting. ICAI advised accepting audit fees only through digital payments.

In November 2025, ICAI submitted pre-budget tax recommendations to the government for Union Budget 2026-27. The proposals aim to simplify business procedures and promote environmentally sustainable practices through specific tax measures. These updates aim to enhance international connectivity and service offerings for Indian CA firms.
