A chip used in smartphones, including the Solana Seeker, has an unfixable vulnerability allowing attackers to steal private keys, as per Ledger’s report. Engineers used electromagnetic pulses to gain control over MediaTek Dimensity 7300, making it impossible to store private keys on affected devices. The vulnerability can’t be patched, leaving users at risk. MediaTek says the chip is not designed for financial applications, suggesting devices with higher security requirements should have countermeasures against such attacks. Ledger disclosed the issue to MediaTek after successfully exploiting the vulnerability in May.
