The global robotaxi market is set to reach $45.7 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 91.8% from 2023 to 2030. Companies like WeRide and Lyft are active players in this field. Lyft is forming strategic partnerships to establish a strong presence and recently partnered with Alphabet’s Waymo to bring autonomous ride-hailing to Nashville in 2026.

WeRide is expanding globally and has partnered with Grab to introduce Level 4 autonomous vehicles in Singapore. In the Middle East, WeRide and Uber have launched a commercial robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. WeRide is also running Level 4 robotaxis in Shanghai and deploying autonomous shuttles in multiple international markets.

Lyft and WeRide have different strategies in the autonomous vehicle market. Lyft focuses on strategic partnerships, while WeRide is more technology-centric and vertically integrated. Lyft’s performance, earnings estimate revisions, and valuation suggest it may be a better investment option. Both companies currently hold a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
