Microsoft announced a C$19 billion investment in Canada between 2023 and 2027, with over C$7.5 billion in the next two years. This will include building digital and AI infrastructure to support Canada’s growth. A five-point plan will promote Canada’s digital sovereignty and invest in people’s skills for the AI era.
The plan focuses on cybersecurity defense, data storage in Canada, privacy protection, supporting local AI developers, and ensuring cloud and AI service continuity. Microsoft has over 5,300 employees in 11 Canadian cities and partners with over 17,000 companies generating C$33-41 billion in revenue annually.
Through partnerships, Microsoft supports 426,000 jobs in Canada, with nearly 300,000 people building solutions on Microsoft platforms. This investment will help Canadian organizations modernize and compete globally as Microsoft expands its AI and cloud capabilities.
