OpenAI has appointed Albert Lee, formerly of Google, as its new vice president of corporate development. Lee, who led corporate development at Google Cloud and DeepMind, brings extensive experience in acquisitions and strategic investments totaling over $50 billion. His role is crucial in moving the company forward quickly, according to an OpenAI spokesperson.
Lee will report to OpenAI’s finance chief, Sarah Friar, starting on Tuesday. His hiring follows the recent recruitment of former Amazon executive Torben Severson as vice president and head of global business development at OpenAI. The company also brought on Mike Liberatore, former finance chief at xAI, as its business finance officer in September.
Lee is also on the advisory board of Alphabet’s growth fund, CapitalG, which has invested in companies like CrowdStrike and Airbnb. The move was first reported by The Information.
