The Fed Lowers Interest Rates

The Federal Open Market Committee voted 9-3 to decrease the benchmark federal funds rate by a quarter point. Chair Jerome Powell noted that the Fed’s dual goals of promoting maximum employment and stabilizing prices are currently “a bit in tension.”
