Scatec ASA has launched the 273 MW Grootfontein solar power plant in South Africa, set to generate 700 GWh of clean energy annually and reduce CO2 emissions by 630,000 tonnes. Scatec owns 51% of the project, H1 Holdings owns 46.5%, and Grootfontein Local Community Trust owns 2.5%. The plant has a 20-year PPA in place and marks Scatec’s first project in the Western Cape. Scatec will provide O&M and asset management services for the plant, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable energy solutions. This achievement strengthens Scatec’s position as a trusted renewable energy partner in South Africa.
