Soybean prices dropped on New Year’s Eve, with contracts closing 13 to 16 cents lower. The national average cash bean price was down 15 ¼ cents at $9.64 3/4. Soymeal futures and soy oil futures also saw declines. CFTC data showed managed money at a net long of 110,403 contracts, a drop from the previous week.
The market will be closed for New Year’s Day, reopening with a hard open at 8:30 am CST on Friday. USDA’s weekly update reported 1.056 MMT of soybeans sold, below trade expectations. Sales to China, not including unknown destinations, totaled 6.5 MMT. Meal sales were 299,131 MT, and soy oil sales were 49,197 MT for 2025/26.
Jan 26 soybeans closed at $10.30 1/2, down 15 3/4 cents, with nearby cash at $9.64 3/4. Mar 26 soybeans closed at $10.47 1/2, down 14 3/4 cents, while May 26 soybeans closed at $10.61, down 13 1/2 cents. No positions in mentioned securities were held by Austin Schroeder.
