A phase 3 study of Varegacestat successfully met its primary endpoint, showing an 84% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death in individuals with desmoid tumors. Immunome’s stock rose by over 15% following the positive clinical results announcement. Desmoid tumors affect 1,000 to 1,650 people annually in the U.S. alone, with debilitating consequences.
The study, led by Dr. Mrinal Gounder, demonstrated Varegacestat’s effectiveness in improving progression-free survival, reducing tumor volume, and pain intensity. Common side effects included diarrhea, fatigue, rash, nausea, and cough, with overall good tolerability. Immunome plans to submit a New Drug Application to the FDA in the second quarter of 2026, based on these promising findings.
Immunome CEO Clay Siegall expressed optimism about Varegacestat’s potential to offer best-in-class results as a once-daily, oral medication. Investors should note that despite the positive news, Immunome did not make it onto the Motley Fool Stock Advisor’s list of the top 10 stocks to buy now. The Stock Advisor’s total average return is 965%, significantly outperforming the S&P 500.
