Betterment recently warned users about a fraudulent crypto promotion message circulating through a third-party system. The message promised to triple funds if users sent up to $10,000 worth of Bitcoin or Ether to specified wallets. Betterment confirmed the message was unauthorized and urged users to disregard it.

Crypto phishing losses in 2025 fell by 83% to $83.85 million, down from nearly $494 million the previous year, according to Scam Sniffer. The number of victims also dropped by 68% to about 106,000. Phishing attacks still correlated with crypto market cycles, peaking during periods of high onchain activity.
