Brightstar Resources has received approval from Western Australia’s DMPE for the Lady Shenton open pit mining development and closure proposal. The Menzies gold project, part of the Goldfields Hub, is located 130km north of Kalgoorlie. The site has a resource estimate of 352,000oz at 1.4 g/t gold.
Lady Shenton System and Link Zone have seen significant mineral resource upgrades, with a DFS underway to assess open-pit development. The site is accessible via Goldfields Highway and contains mineral resources totaling 589,000oz. Approval marks a major milestone for Brightstar as it prepares to start mining operations.
Brightstar Resources plans to mine the Lady Shenton deposit and transport it to a processing plant in Laverton. The company’s updated DFS will include revised mine plans for both Yunndaga Underground and Lady Shenton projects. The approval is a significant step for the Menzies assets and represents a low-capex, high-margin deposit.
Aiming to become a multi-asset, mid-tier gold producer in WA, Brightstar Resources has plans to develop Goldfields and Sandstone projects. The company holds more than four million ounces across granted mining leases. In November 2025, Brightstar obtained approval to acquire Aurumin, a gold exploration company.
Approval from the Supreme Court of Western Australia and Aurumin shareholders allowed Brightstar to acquire all shares and options of the gold exploration company. The transaction was carried out through a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement, resulting in Aurumin shareholders receiving new Brightstar Resources options.
