Cognizant has completed the acquisition of 3Cloud, a Microsoft Azure services provider, adding around 1,200 employees, including 700 in the US, to its workforce. This move aims to enhance Cognizant’s Azure, data, and AI capabilities, with the addition of 3Cloud’s expertise. The acquisition increases Cognizant’s Azure-certified professionals to over 21,000 globally.
The sale of 3Cloud to Cognizant was finalized by Gryphon Investors after years of investment and growth, with undisclosed financial details. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S highlighted the importance of combining 3Cloud’s expertise with Cognizant’s resources to drive innovation and AI transformation for clients. Founded in 2016, 3Cloud specializes in data engineering, AI development, and analytics for various industries.
The integration of 3Cloud is expected to expand Cognizant’s Azure services portfolio, meeting the growing demand for AI-driven business transformation on Microsoft Azure platforms. Microsoft’s third-quarter reports for 2025 show a 40% year-on-year growth in Azure and related cloud services. Gryphon Investors received advisory support from Lazard and legal counsel from Kirkland & Ellis, with Mayer Brown acting as legal advisor to Cognizant.
