Comcast’s fourth-quarter results show a mix of earnings beating expectations but revenue slightly missing the mark. The company’s broadband business faced tough competition, losing 181,000 domestic customers while adding international subscribers. However, Comcast’s mobile segment gained 364,000 customers, totaling over 9.3 million. Adjusted earnings per share were 84 cents vs. 75 cents expected, with revenue at $32.31 billion vs. $32.35 billion expected. Net income decreased to $2.17 billion. Adjusted net income was $3.06 billion, and adjusted EBITDA was down 10% to $7.9 billion. Overall revenue increased by over 1% to $32.31 billion. Revenue for Comcast’s connectivity and platforms unit was down 1% to $20.24 billion, with domestic broadband revenue down 1% to $6.32 billion. The company lost 245,000 pay TV customers in the quarter. Revenue for the media unit, including NBCUniversal, rose 5.5% to $7.62 billion. NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, saw 3 million paid customer additions, ending the year with 44 million subscribers. Universal film studio revenue decreased by 7.4% to $3.03 billion, while theme parks revenue increased by 22% to $2.9 billion due to the opening of Epic Universe.
