eDreams cancelled Tryp.com’s bookings of discounted Prime flights and non-Prime flights. Tryp.com used AI to cancel the subscription program that eDreams automatically enrolled travelers in. eDreams has initiated legal action against Tryp.com in Portugal.
eDreams claims Tryp.com’s actions were abusive and deceptive. Tryp.com argues for the right to purchase flights on behalf of users and criticizes eDreams’ practices. The two companies have been embroiled in legal battles across Europe over business practices.
Ryanair and eDreams have also faced legal issues, with Ryanair being fined for limiting OTAs’ access to its flights in Italy. eDreams has faced court rulings in Berlin over excessive service fees and misleading consumers on flight changes. Ryanair plans to appeal the Italian ruling.
eDreams is the only major OTA in Europe without a partnership with Ryanair. The ongoing legal battles highlight the challenges faced by online travel agencies in accessing cheap flights and the complex relationships between airlines and OTAs.
