Micron Technology, Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s P5 fabrication site in Taiwan for $1.8 billion. The acquisition includes a 300mm fab cleanroom and aims to meet growing global demand for memory solutions. The deal is expected to close by Q2 2026, with Micron taking control of the site to ramp up DRAM production. Micron anticipates significant DRAM wafer output by the second half of 2027. This move establishes a long-term relationship between Micron and PSMC, supporting PSMC’s legacy DRAM portfolio.
