NorthWest Copper Corp. reports successful results from its 2025 metallurgical program at the Kwanika project, showing improved recoveries of 34% for gold and 37% for silver. These results will be reflected in an updated mineral resource and new Preliminary Economic Assessment in 2026. The program focused on higher-grade zones and refining the flow sheet for enhanced recoveries.

Compared to previous testing, the 2025 program showed substantially higher recoveries for gold and silver. Leaching, along with flotation, resulted in overall recoveries increasing by 34% for gold and 37% for silver. The refined flow sheet demonstrated improved precious metal recoveries, with gold recoveries ranging from 94.6% to 96.3% and silver recoveries from 96.3%.

NorthWest Copper Corp.’s CEO, Paul Olmsted, expressed pleasure with the results, highlighting the opportunity to significantly enhance recoveries at Kwanika. The company’s strategy shift in early 2025 prioritized higher-grade zones and exploration programs, leading to better-than-expected results. An updated Preliminary Economic Assessment is expected in mid-2026, reflecting the successful outcomes.

The metallurgical program at Kwanika, managed by Canenco Consulting Corp., focused on higher-grade underground mineralized zones. The program successfully demonstrated improved gold and silver recoveries through conventional processing methods, such as flotation and leach processing. The results support a more selective bulk underground mining method at Kwanika and inform the 2026 drilling program.

A total of 312 kg of core material from 2021 and 2022 drill cores at Kwanika was tested under the supervision of Canenco at Intertek Base Met Labs. The samples were ground to achieve finer grind sizes, allowing for improved recoveries. The program demonstrated significant improvements in copper, gold, and silver recoveries through conventional processing methods, enhancing the project’s overall performance.
