The New York Stock Exchange plans to launch a platform for trading tokenised US-listed equities and ETFs on the blockchain, offering instant settlement and 24/7 trading. ICE seeks regulatory approval, working with banks like BNY Mellon and Citigroup for tokenised deposits to meet margin requirements and manage funds globally.

Former Binance CEO sees the NYSE platform as bullish for crypto. However, DeFi expert Sergej Kunz warns that 24/7 trading doesn’t guarantee liquidity unless cross-venue and cross-chain fragmentation is addressed. Tokenised stocks gained popularity in 2025, with platforms like Robinhood and Kraken leading the way.

Tokenised assets currently make up just 0.01% of global equity and bond market capitalisation, according to Grayscale. However, the company predicts a potential 1,000x growth by 2030. Co-founder of Swarm Markets expects the tokenised assets market to become broader, deeper, and more institutional in 2026.
