The stock market saw mixed results at the start of the new year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 317 points, or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 closed up 0.2%. However, the Nasdaq Composite closed slightly down. The Dow and S&P broke their four-day losing streaks, but the Nasdaq couldn’t do the same, finishing just below breakeven. This marked the Nasdaq’s fifth consecutive day of decline, with the last time it fell for five days in a row being in early 2025.
