Telecom Italia (TIM) and Fastweb are close to a mobile network-sharing deal to upgrade and operate their 5G infrastructure in Italy, cutting costs. Italian telecom firms are restructuring after a significant revenue drop, aiming to save 250-300 million euros over 10 years. This project, codenamed Prism, targets smaller towns and aims to finalize the agreement by early March. Fastweb recently became Italy’s top mobile operator and plans to collaborate with TIM to avoid duplicating investments and managing costs, including spectrum sharing. Italy’s mobile market is competitive, with JP Morgan noting low prices and Asstel lobbying for spectrum license renewal.
