Telegram’s operating revenue increased in 2025, hitting $870 million in the first half, up 65% from the previous year. Around $300 million came from earnings related to Telegram-connected cryptocurrency Toncoin. The company posted a net loss of over $220 million due to writing down the value of its Toncoin holdings.

Despite the revenue boost, Telegram denied any exposure to Russia, clarifying that the frozen $500 million in bonds were from a 2021 issue. The company’s latest bond offering in 2025 did not involve Russian investors. Telegram aims for $2 billion in revenue this year, with plans to proceed with a public market listing pending resolution of CEO Pavel Durov’s legal case.
