Australian payment firm Airwallex is investing 200 million euros in its Netherlands operations over the next five years, aiming for major European expansion. The fintech plans to increase its Amsterdam headcount by 60% to 70 employees by 2026. Airwallex’s global payments platform allows businesses to send and receive international payments. Founded in 2015, the company secured significant funding and surpassed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue. With a focus on Europe and the Americas, Airwallex obtained a license in the Netherlands in 2021. Serving over 150,000 customers, including Shein and TikTok, Airwallex competes with established European payment processors.
