Tesla Inc. will enter settlement negotiations with the EEOC over a 2023 lawsuit alleging race-based harassment at its Fremont, California factory. The EEOC has asked for evidence-gathering deadlines to be put on hold for mediation, expected to start in March or April. If talks fail, proposals will be submitted to the judge by June 17.

The EEOC filed a lawsuit against Tesla in September 2023, claiming the company allowed severe and widespread harassment of Black employees. The complaint mentioned racial slurs, racist graffiti like swastikas and nooses, some found on vehicles from the assembly line. Discussions are set to begin for a resolution.
