Truebit protocol experienced a security incident with malicious actors, resulting in $26 million worth of Ether being stolen. Price of TRU token dropped over 99% to $0.0000000029. Crypto sleuths tracked the stolen Ether to a smart contract address. Truebit is working with law enforcement to address the exploit.

Following the Truebit hack, December saw major exploits in the crypto space. Flow Foundation reported $3.9 million in losses from counterfeit tokens. Trust Wallet’s Chrome extension was targeted in a $7 million hack. Total crypto industry losses due to hacks decreased to $76 million in December from $194 million in November according to PeckShield.
