Automotive technology supplier Valeo and DePIN provider Natix Network partner to build an AI multi-camera model for autonomous driving systems. The World Foundation Model (WFM) aims to predict real-world motion and adapt to traffic situations, advancing research into autonomous driving. Valeo and Natix plan to release their models openly in the next few months.
Wayve is already using WFMs in self-driving vehicles, demonstrating the technology’s potential. WFM is part of the DePIN sector, merging blockchain with physical infrastructure for decentralized networks. The goal is to advance mobility intelligence and autonomous vehicles. Valeo’s CEO sees WFMs as the next big shift for physical AI, similar to large language models.
The WFM model aims to build predictive capabilities for self-driving vehicles, unlike current perception-only AI models. Natix believes decentralizing and open-sourcing the WFM will allow for broader testing and faster development. Transparency and safety are crucial for the mainstream deployment of autonomous vehicles.
Valeo and Natix face competition from Nvidia’s Alpamayo in the autonomous driving technology sector. Natix, founded in 2020, operates a decentralized multi-camera data network with hundreds of thousands of contributors. The company’s focus is on training and testing physical AI systems in real-world conditions. Magazine: Most DePIN projects may not fully utilize blockchain technology.
