In early trading, Merck’s shares rose by 1.2%, making it the best performing Dow Jones component. However, year-to-date, Merck has lost 14.4% of its value. On the other hand, Goldman Sachs Group is the worst performer, trading down 2.7% for the day, but showing a gain of 26.6% year-to-date. American Express is down 2.5%, while McDonald’s is up 0.7%.
