The European Commission has approved Google’s $32bn acquisition of cloud security company Wiz, citing no competition concerns in the European Economic Area. The US Department of Justice also completed its antitrust review, clearing the way for Alphabet to expand in cloud security. Google aims to strengthen its position in the cloud security market and multi-cloud solutions. The EC determined that customers will have alternatives and the ability to switch providers. The deal was referred to the Commission under EU Merger Regulation by Cyprus, Ireland, and Sweden, but no objections were raised.
