HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division has completed builder’s sea trials of the John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) aircraft carrier, testing ship systems and components at sea for the first time. The trials demonstrated ship operations and brought together NNS shipbuilders, Navy personnel, and sailors. CVN 79 is part of the highly capable Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier platform, featuring enhanced operational efficiency and a new nuclear power plant. HII is America’s largest shipbuilder, delivering powerful ships and mission technologies to defense customers, with a workforce of 44,000.
