Two leading prediction market platforms, Polymarket and Kalshi, are engaging in a grocery giveaway battle for market dominance. Kalshi offered $50 worth of groceries to 1,000 Manhattan residents, while Polymarket plans to open a free grocery store. Both platforms have seen a significant increase in trading volumes, now exceeding $400 million daily. Kalshi generated $263.5 million in fee revenue in 2025 and both platforms have multibillion-dollar valuations. Kalshi’s promotion at the Westside Market in Manhattan attracted a large crowd, with 1,795 people signing up for free groceries. Polymarket is set to launch “The Polymarket,” New York’s first free grocery store, and will donate $1 million to the Food Bank for NYC. Both platforms have been forming strategic partnerships, with Polymarket collaborating with Dow Jones and Kalshi teaming up with CNN and CNBC. Prediction market platforms have been banned from advertising during the upcoming Super Bowl.
