Shares of Airbnb dropped 3% in after-hours trading following Q4 earnings that missed analyst expectations. Revenue was $2.78 billion, beating the expected $2.72 billion. Airbnb projects $2.59-2.63 billion revenue for the current period, expecting “low double digits” growth. Net income was $341 million, down from $461 million the previous year.
In Q4, Airbnb reported revenue of $2.78 billion, up 12% from the same period last year. The company exceeded Wall Street’s revenue expectations for 20 out of the last 21 quarters. 121.9 million nights and seats were booked, a 10% increase from the previous year. Gross booking value was $20.4 billion, surpassing analyst estimates.
Airbnb reported an adjusted EBITDA of $786 million for the period. The company hired Ahmad Al-Dahle, former AI head at Meta, as its new tech chief. Previous tech chief Ari Balogh stepped down in December. CEO Brian Chesky sees an opportunity to enhance AI in travel and e-commerce.
