Eddie Bauer’s retail operator, Catalyst Brands, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing declining sales and supply chain challenges. The brand operates about 180 stores in the US and Canada. The company will continue to serve customers during the court-supervised sale process, but may close if a buyer is not found.
The bankruptcy is not expected to affect manufacturing, wholesale, or e-commerce operations. Authentic Brands Group, the brand’s global owner, also owns Reebok, Nautica, Brooks Brothers, and Dockers. Authentic is expanding its partnership with Eddie Bauer licensee Outdoor 5, LLC to manage e-commerce and wholesale operations.
