Ripple has officially been granted full Electronic Money Institution (EMI) status by Luxembourg’s financial regulator, CSSF, expanding its regulatory footprint in the EU. This follows conditional approval last month and meets all regulatory requirements. Ripple now holds over 75 licenses globally, aiming to provide compliant blockchain infrastructure to European businesses.

In addition to regulatory progress, Ripple raised $500m at a $40bn valuation in November, with investments from Fortress Investment Group, Citadel Securities, and others. The company has also been active in acquisitions, including a $1bn deal for GTreasury and a $200m acquisition of Rail for stablecoin payments infrastructure. These moves aim to enhance Ripple’s capabilities and presence in the financial industry.
