Uber reported better-than-expected revenue in Q4, with shares falling premarket. Revenue was $14.37 billion, up from $12 billion a year earlier. Mobility revenue was $8.2 billion, delivery revenue $4.9 billion. Net income was $296 million. Gross bookings were $54.1 billion, beating estimates. Delivery business saw strongest growth.
CEO Khosrowshahi highlighted growth in Europe, Middle East, and Africa for Uber’s delivery business. He emphasized the potential of autonomous vehicles in unlocking a “multi-trillion dollar opportunity.” Uber aims to facilitate AV trips in up to 15 cities globally by the end of 2026 and become the largest facilitator of AV trips by 2029.
Uber is investing in its Uber One program to increase customer engagement. They are also expanding their advertising business and utilizing generative AI to reach new customers. The company is focused on partnerships with companies like OpenTable and Shopify to drive growth in its delivery business.
