Yum Brands reported mixed quarterly results, with earnings per share of $1.73 compared to the expected $1.77 and revenue of $2.51 billion versus $2.45 billion expected. Net income rose to $535 million, driven by Taco Bell’s 7% same-store sales growth, outperforming the fast-food industry. KFC also saw a 3% same-store sales increase globally.

Pizza Hut continued to struggle, reporting a 1% decline in same-store sales, prompting Yum Brands to explore strategic options for the chain. Yum plans to complete the review this year while implementing a plan to accelerate the brand’s performance. Pizza Hut will close about 250 underperforming U.S. locations in the first half of the year.
