Global financial markets are reeling from President Trump’s escalating trade war, with U.S. stock indexes plummeting double digits and sparking anxiety among investors worldwide.

U.S. markets, previously soaring, have taken a sharp nosedive with the S&P 500 down more than 12%, while overseas markets are performing relatively better.

Traditional safe havens like U.S. Treasurys and the dollar are experiencing erratic trading, with Treasury yields spiking and the dollar hitting a three-year low.

Gold, a commodity traded internationally, remains a safe zone with prices hitting record highs amid economic uncertainty.

Bitcoin’s value has been fluctuating significantly, with the cryptocurrency climbing to over $109,000 before dipping to under $75,000 amidst wider market sell-offs.

Oil prices are at a four-year low due to fears of economic slowdown, with West Texas Intermediate crude standing at around $62.40 per barrel and Brent crude just above $66.

The U.S. dollar has weakened by 9% against other currencies this year, impacting borrowing rates and purchasing power, amid uncertainty over tariffs, inflation, and economic growth.

Economists warn that Trump’s steep tariffs could lead to a recession, affecting the energy sector and supply chain significantly.
