Devyani International plans to acquire Indian foodservice brand Biryani by Kilo (BBK), causing a 4% surge in its share price. Devyani’s shares rose to Rs172.65 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the announcement. The company will finalize the acquisition terms in a board meeting on April 24 and discuss issuing equity shares for a controlling stake in Sky Gate Hospitality, which owns BBK and other brands like Goila Butter Chicken and Get-A-Way. Founded in 2015, BBK is known for delivering dum-cooked handi biryanis using high-quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods. With over 70 dine-in outlets across 29 cities, Devyani International is a major QSR operator in India, boasting a network of more than 2,000 restaurants in India, Thailand, Nepal, and Nigeria.
