Pure Lithium received a $300m letter of interest from EXIM for a lithium battery manufacturing facility. The funding falls under EXIM’s Make More in America initiative to support US manufacturing and exports. The potential agreement is subject to EXIM’s due diligence and underwriting standards. Pure Lithium’s CEO emphasizes the importance of domestic battery production for US energy security.

The transaction might be eligible for special consideration under Section 402 of EXIM’s 2019 reauthorization, aiming to counteract pressure from China and promote US leadership in transformative exports. The China and Transformational Exports Program (CTEP) supports US exporters in competing with Chinese companies through benefits like reduced fees and longer repayment terms. Pure Lithium previously secured funding from the US Department of Energy to establish a closed-loop supply chain for lithium metal anodes.
