Eli Lilly’s sales growth is attributed to Zepbound, a weight loss medicine generating over $1 billion in quarterly sales since its late 2023 approval. The pharmaceutical giant recently had a clinical win with orforglipron, an oral weight management candidate showing promise in a phase 3 study with significant weight loss results.

While Zepbound is administered through injections, orforglipron’s oral pill form may appeal to patients who prefer daily oral medication. The therapy showed a 7.9% mean weight loss and 1.5% decrease in A1C levels over 40 weeks, similar to injectable GLP-1 medicines. This could be a game-changer for Eli Lilly, making manufacturing and distribution easier.

Beyond weight loss, Eli Lilly excels in other areas like cancer and immunology. Verzenio, a cancer drug, saw a 37% sales increase to $5.3 billion last year. Taltz, an immunosuppressant, reported $3.3 billion in revenue, up 18% from the previous year. The company’s diversification and innovative drug pipeline set it apart in the market.

Eli Lilly’s success extends to Alzheimer’s disease with the launch of Kisunla, a therapy defying the odds in a challenging field. The company’s innovative prowess spans various medical sectors, leading to substantial clinical and regulatory wins in recent years. With a history of blockbuster drugs and a strong dividend-paying record, Eli Lilly remains a top choice for investors.
