Union Pacific Corp. reported flat first quarter revenue and earnings compared to last year due to a mix of freight. Net income was $1.6 billion, or $2.70 per share, with operating revenue of $6 billion. Freight revenue grew 1%, and expenses remained flat with a 60.7% operating ratio.

CEO Jim Vena praised the team for a solid start to the year and affirmed the 2025 outlook. The company expects consistent earnings-per-share growth and did not change planned capital spending of $3.4 billion. Share repurchases are expected to be $4 billion to $4.5 billion.
