Nissan forecasts record loss due to restructuring, shares rise 2%

Nissan shares rose 2% as it forecasted a record loss due to asset devaluation and restructuring costs. The automaker is battling declining sales in the US and China and faces exposure to US import tariffs. New CEO plans to cut development times and launch new models to boost competitiveness. Nissan’s credit rating was downgraded to “junk” by Fitch. It expects a net loss of 750 billion yen for the fiscal year, with additional restructuring costs. Operating profit is forecasted to be 30% lower than previously expected. Nissan will skip its annual dividend and report earnings on May 13.
