Ghana to engage Private Sector to establish three garment factories

Ghana President John Dramani Mahama’s plan includes establishing garment factories to boost industrial growth and create jobs. Each plant is expected to employ 3,000 workers per shift, totaling 27,000 new job opportunities. The initiative aims to transform Ghana’s economic landscape and prioritize sectors that can sustainably grow the economy. Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare will lead a delegation to China for business engagements, supporting the 24-hour Economy Policy and promoting entrepreneurship. Additionally, World Shoe Social Enterprise inaugurated Ghana’s first eco-friendly footwear factory, capable of producing over 5 million shoes prioritizing sustainability and disease prevention. Northshore Apparel is working on an apparel production plant in northern Ghana, projected to create over 10,000 direct job opportunities.
