Samourai Wallet, feds ask for time to mull dropping crypto mixer case

US federal prosecutors and the co-founders of Samourai Wallet request more time to consider dismissing the case after the Justice Department scaled back crypto enforcement. Defense counsel met with prosecutors to discuss the request for a continuance of the pretrial motions schedule by 16 days. Samourai Wallet executives face money laundering and unlicensed money transmitting charges. The Department of Justice will focus on prosecuting individuals who victimize digital asset investors or use digital assets for criminal offenses. Prosecutors agreed to adjourn without expressing views on the merits. Motions due May 13, responses due June 10, replies due June 24, proposing to move these dates to May 29, June 26, and July 10 respectively. Trial date set for early November.
