Novo Nordisk expands access to Wegovy through telehealth providers, boosting stock prices

The “Wegovy” slimming syringe is available in German pharmacies, like Achat in Mitte. Novo Nordisk will offer Wegovy through telehealth providers like Hims & Hers, Ro, and LifeMD to increase access. Shares of Hims & Hers soared 18%, while Novo Nordisk’s stock rose 3%.

Novo Nordisk aims to capture more patients with Wegovy now that compounded versions are restricted. Patients can access Wegovy through telehealth providers and NovoCare, the company’s online pharmacy, for $499 per month. Hims & Hers will offer all dose sizes of Wegovy starting at $599 per month, while Ro will offer it for $499 per month with added services.

Hims & Hers also offers Eli Lilly’s Zepbound and Mounjaro through its platform. Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic and Wegovy are no longer available in compounded form. Compounded medications can still be accessed on a case-by-case basis when medically necessary, but larger compounding pharmacies face legal deadlines to stop.

Novo Nordisk’s FDA-approved treatments are offered at the best cash price to help patients without insurance coverage. Ro CEO Zach Reitano stated that the partnership with Novo Nordisk will help more patients nationwide access obesity care. Hims & Hers CEO Andrew Dudum highlighted the importance of fighting for consumer rights and following regulations.
