Yum Brands exceeded expectations with a 3% increase in first-quarter comparable sales, driven by strong performance at Taco Bell in the U.S. and KFC internationally. Despite a slowdown in dining out, Taco Bell saw a 3.7% rise in visits and introduced a $9 value meal. KFC’s international division also reported 3% growth, surpassing estimates of 1.6%. Total sales in China increased by 3%. Yum Brands reaffirmed its 8% annual core operating profit growth target.
