Indian stocks surged on Friday as China indicated it is considering trade talks with the U.S., boosting global trade sentiment. The S&P/BSE Sensex rose by 764 points, while the NSE Nifty index jumped by 183 points. Top gainers included Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Adani Ports, with Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra also making gains after reporting April sales figures. Infosys saw a 1% increase after finalizing its acquisition of MRE Consulting, while NCC gained 2% from new contract wins. Federal Bank, however, declined by 2% due to net interest income below expectations, and Puravankara fell 2% on fund raising reports.
